Finland Elopement Packages for a Magical Nordic Wedding

What’s an elopement?
An elopement (or intimate wedding) is all about keeping things sweet and simple. It’s cozy, private, and often spontaneous, usually just involving the couple and a few close witnesses or no guests at all. Unlike big traditional weddings, elopements are all about celebrating the couple’s commitment to each other in a low-key way. They can happen in unique or personal spots, like a beautiful outdoor setting, a courthouse, or even a gorgeous destination for the couple. The focus is on the love between the couple rather than the big party of a traditional wedding.

Choosing the right package for your finnish elopement: What to consider?
01.
Ceremony Length:
When it comes to elopements, you have the freedom to make it your own! Think about how long you’d like your elopement ceremony to be (on average 20 minutes)—maybe a short and sweet exchange of vows or something a bit longer that includes personal touches.
02.
Photography Session:
One of the most magical parts of eloping in Finland is capturing your love story against its wild, untouched landscapes. As you plan your day, think about how much time you’d like for portraits, candid moments, and exploring the unique beauty of your surroundings. Choosing a photography package with several hours of coverage allows you to slow down, truly experience the day, and come away with images that reflect the heart of your Finnish adventure.
03.
Additional Activities:
Why not add a little extra magic to your day with activities that reflect your personalities? Whether it’s a peaceful hike through snow-covered forests, a cozy campfire under the stars, exploring hidden lakes, or even a dip in icy waters followed by a warm sauna, weaving in something you both love can make your Finnish elopement feel even more special and unforgettable.
04.
Travel Time:
Finland is full of stunning, jaw-dropping landscapes, and some of the most breathtaking spots are hidden off the beaten path. If you’re planning to explore multiple locations—like quiet forest trails, remote lakesides, or wide-open fells—be sure to factor in travel time. Choosing a photography package with enough coverage will let you move between locations at a relaxed pace, giving you the freedom to breathe, explore, and fully soak in the magic of your day.
05.
Intimate Moments:
Elopements are all about those personal, intimate moments that truly make the day yours. Think about how much time you’d like to enjoy each other’s company, whether it’s a quiet moment after the ceremony or sharing a meaningful toast. Packages that include time for these special moments can really enhance your experience.
06.
Sunrise or Sunset Ceremonies:
Finland’s natural beauty becomes especially magical at sunrise or sunset—when the forests glow with golden light, mist rises over quiet lakes, and everything feels calm and otherworldly. These moments create stunning conditions for your ceremony and portraits, but they do call for a bit of thoughtful planning. If you’re dreaming of a symbolic ceremony in the soft morning light or under the golden evening sky, be sure to choose a package that gives you plenty of time to get ready, exchange vows, and maybe even set off on a little adventure right after.

Best season to elope in finland
Spring (March to May)
Weather & Atmosphere:
Spring in Finland starts off slowly, especially in the northern regions. In the south, you’ll notice the snow beginning to melt around March or April, and by May, everything starts to bloom beautifully! The days grow longer, and we get to enjoy warmer temperatures as nature wakes up.
Pros:
- A peaceful and quiet season with fewer tourists around.
- You get to experience a lovely blend of winter and spring vibes—it’s especially charming in early spring when a bit of snow still hangs around.
- By May, the fresh greens and blossoming trees in the south are simply breathtaking!
Cons:
- Some roads or national parks might still be snow-covered or hard to access.
- The weather can be a bit unpredictable—think muddy trails and slushy snow!
- Before spring fully blooms (especially in April), nature can look a little dull.

Summer (June to August)
Weather & Atmosphere:
Finnish summers are absolutely delightful—think bright sunshine and mild temperatures, ranging from 15–25°C (59–77°F), with the occasional heatwave. If you’re above the Arctic Circle, prepare for the magic of the Midnight Sun, where the sun barely sets in June and July!
Pros:
- Warm, long days filled with soft golden light in the evenings—the perfect setting for portraits!
- Outdoor ceremonies are super comfortable and easy to organize.
- It’s a great time to explore remote areas, including the stunning archipelago and national parks!
Cons:
- The weather can change quickly—one moment it’s sunny, and the next, you might see some rain!
- Watch out for pesky mosquitoes, especially in forested areas from late June to July!
- There are more tourists around, particularly in Lapland and popular spots.
Autumn (September to November)
Weather & Atmosphere:
Autumn in Finland brings crisp air, shorter days, and a spectacular display of colors known as Ruska—especially vibrant in Lapland. September can still be pleasantly mild, but by November, it often gets cold and grey, particularly in the north.
Pros:
- The Ruska season in September is absolutely breathtaking!
- It’s a quieter travel time with fewer tourists around.
- You can enjoy soft, moody light that’s perfect for romantic and cinematic portraits.
Cons:
- Daylight hours decrease rapidly, so planning for ceremonies and photos is key!
- As we get into October/November, cold and rainy weather becomes more common.
- By November, things can look a bit grey and bare, with little snow or autumn colors.

Winter (December to February)
Weather & Atmosphere:
Winter in Finland is nothing short of magical, with snow blanketing much of the country—especially in Lapland! Temperatures can dip between -5°C and -30°C (23°F to -22°F), particularly in the north. The Polar Night (Kaamos) offers those enchanting blue hours and warm golden light!
Pros:
- The snowy, fairytale landscapes are perfect for winter elopements.
- You might get the chance to elope under the mesmerizing northern lights!
- There are fun winter activities to enjoy, like husky sledding and snowshoeing!
Cons:
- Weather can be unpredictable—snowstorms and icy roads can happen!
- It can get very cold, so you’ll definitely need warm gear and good logistics!
- Daylight is limited, especially in the north, with only 2–6 hours per day.
